Happy Birthday Star Trek
Star Trek debuted on network television on Sept. 8, 1966. I was not quite three. My mom let me and my older brother stay up to watch it with her — I can remember it on the old television console set! The colors were so bright…not all shows at that point were broadcast in color. Star Trek, with its peacock colors and moddish style, was a treat for my childish eyes.
My mom was a goddess. She saw the show, she knew her kids. She got it.
She created a tv-loving, scifi-fangirl geek monster. I’ve never looked back!
