Hi. Call me whisky. I live in NY. I’m a Scaper. Why is this important to know?

FoxTrot strip mentioning Save Farscape campaign

saneTV began in 2003 as a way for the webmaster (erm, that would be me) to earn extra bucks so I could participate in the campaign activities to save the awesome television show Farscape. I was pretty broke (I am always pretty broke), so I needed to raise funds using the only resource I had: my creative mind. I designed t-shirts on CafePress (no cash outlay needed) and sold them. Strange thing…people actually liked my designs. Who knew? So I was able to help and participate in the campaign a lot more than I ever imagined I could.

I’d say we won.

We got a miniseries. More Farscape in new formats are coming. People still watch Farscape. People still talk about it and discover it and love it and push it like a drug on the street. This show is a living entity, alive thanks to thousands of fans who came up with ways to save their show. I am grateful to have had the chance to be one of those thousands. I am humbled by the efforts and achievements of my peers.

Funny thing…every time I thought it was time to throw in the towel on saneTV, people would buy more stuff. So I kept making stuff. Then I’d do a little something-something. Donate a bit to the Save Stargate: SG1 fund. Throw some funds to a local domestic violence shelter. Buy some pencils to send to greedy TV moguls during the last WGA strike. Bring a sick fan to her first convention. Plant some trees. Donate some school supplies to local needy kids. And on we go.

People keep buying my t-shirts, and I keep finding ways to pass along the love.

The other funny thing…I found out how much I love to make this stuff. I love to create. Designing tees has kept me sane during some very crazy, very nasty times in the past few years. saneTV has given my creative streak a chance to deepen, and given me and others an opportunity to share what we do.

I guess it’s all because of fans, and love. Thanks for that, everyone. Back at’cha.
